Erdoğan receives US envoy Barrack and Congressman Issa in Ankara

Rastinews — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received Tom Barrack, the US ambassador to Ankara and special envoy for Syria and Iraq, at the Presidential Complex. US Representative Darrell Issa and his wife attended the meeting, which was closed to the press.

Barrack posted his assessment of the meeting on his X account. He said he was honoured to meet Erdoğan at Beştepe, adding that "our alliance is stronger than it has ever been."

Barrack said Turkey and the United States are bound by NATO membership, an economic partnership and decades of shared history. The talks, he said, reaffirmed a common commitment to regional security, economic cooperation and the enduring partnership between the two countries.
