Editorial principles
- News and comment are kept apart; opinion pieces carry their author's name.
- Every report names its source; information taken from another outlet is attributed.
- Unverified claims are not presented as fact; where verification is impossible, the text says so.
- We avoid language that degrades people or communities, and we publish no hate speech.
- The identities of children and of victims of violence are protected.
- Translations do not alter the meaning of the original; all seven versions rest on the same report.
Corrections and right of reply
If you believe a published report contains an error, write to us. Where the error is confirmed, the report is corrected and the correction is stated openly within the text. People and institutions we report on have a right of reply.
