MİT to inspect 72 sites vacated by PKK

Speaking to Channel 8, Numan said Iraq's federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government would act in coordination with Turkey. Under the plan, Iraqi Border Guards and Peshmerga forces will be deployed in the areas vacated by the PKK.
Numan said Turkey's National Intelligence Organization (MİT) would monitor on the ground whether all 72 positions and shelters used by the PKK have been fully vacated.
New arrangement in Kandil, Zap, Metina and Gara
Under the plan, Iraqi and Kurdistan Region forces are expected to fill any security vacuum that may emerge in the mountainous areas from which the PKK has withdrawn, chiefly Kandil, Zap, Metina and Gara.
Iraqi Border Guards are planned to be deployed along the Iraq-Turkey border line in coordination with Peshmerga forces.
Numan also said five surrender points would be set up around Erbil and Sulaymaniyah where PKK members could lay down their weapons. He said weapons handed in would be registered and transferred to the relevant authorities.
7,000 to 8,000 people expected to return to Turkey
According to a report by Independent Türkçe citing Channel 8, some 7,000 to 8,000 PKK members from Iraq and Syria are expected to return to Turkey.
The report said the legal arrangement related to the process would cover the organization's rank-and-file members, while roughly 230 senior figures and those accused of killing would not be able to benefit from it.
