Zelensky: We Have Presented a Proposal to End the War

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said his government had presented proposals to American negotiators for ending the war with Russia, and warned that Moscow could use next month's parliamentary elections as a pretext for a new mobilization.
In a video address released overnight, Zelensky said, "We have conveyed our proposals to the United States," but gave no details of what they contained. He again called on Washington to help Ukraine's defense.
U.S.-led efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war had stalled following the American conflict with Iran. Russia and Ukraine had said American negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner would soon visit their countries.
Zelensky said Ukrainian intelligence had evidence that Russia was preparing to announce a new mobilization after what he called "sham elections" in September, aimed at creating the impression that Russians support the war.
Russia's Supreme Court on Monday barred the liberal Yabloko party — the only registered party opposed to Russia's war in Ukraine — from taking part in the election.
