Citing the Kurdistan Region Counter Terrorism Department, the paper said one of two Hadid-110 drones, launched from the Iranian border shortly after midnight and loaded with explosives, targeted the office of Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani.
The second drone targeted the home of the head of the Parastin Intelligence Agency in Erbil's Pirmam district.
No casualties or major damage were reported.
Prime Minister Masrour Barzani strongly condemned the strikes, calling them "reckless and unacceptable":
"This is a dangerous escalation and a direct threat to the security and stability of the Kurdistan Region."
The Counter Terrorism Department said the attacks were completely unacceptable and that those responsible would be held fully accountable for any consequences.
The National reported that cross-border attacks on the Kurdistan Region have increased since the outbreak of war between Iran and Israel, with targets including US personnel, the US Consulate in Erbil, Kurdish opposition groups, energy infrastructure and local security centers.
The report also noted that preparations by the US-led coalition to hand over its bases in the Kurdistan Region to Iraqi forces by September 30 have heightened security concerns in Erbil.
According to the paper, US forces play a significant role in intercepting missiles and drones aimed at the Kurdistan Region.
