Macron Welcomes 'Decisive Step' in SDF Integration Into Syrian State
RastinewsFrench President Emmanuel Macron said he welcomed the "decisive step" taken yesterday toward the peaceful integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into the Syrian state.
In a post on X, Macron congratulated Syria and praised the stance taken by Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, as well as the sense of responsibility shown by SDF General Commander Mazloum Abdi and the SDF on the matter.
Macron's post read in full:
"I congratulate Syria on the decisive step taken yesterday toward the peaceful integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into the Syrian state.
I salute the commitment of President Ahmed al-Sharaa and the sense of responsibility shown by Mazloum Abdi and the SDF on this matter.
Since the start of the transition process, France has played an active role in accompanying it and will closely follow its implementation.
France will continue to support Syria's transition on the principles of respect for all of Syria's components and a state monopoly on arms, guided solely by Syria's unity and sovereignty.
This is the only way to build lasting peace and stability, in Syria as everywhere else in the world."
