4-Year-Old Yazidi Child with Epilepsy Runs Out of Medication in Izmir Detention Center

According to reports, the medication Alveer needs to survive has run out.
According to a report by Nalin Öztekin for Bianet, the father, Araz Rasho Qoto, was detained in Izmir on suspicion of carrying forged travel documents. Referred to court on Aug. 1, he was formally arrested and sent to prison. The mother, Shahbaz Aras Naif Al Abdy, was released under judicial supervision but taken with her two children to the Harmandalı Removal Center pending deportation.
The family's lawyer, Edhem Kuruş, said Alveer's regular epilepsy medication had run out and that the center faced serious delays in obtaining a new supply. Warning that the situation poses a life-threatening risk, Kuruş said the case cannot be treated as a mere migration or criminal matter and called for Alveer to be transferred without delay to a fully equipped medical facility.
