Citing Germany's Bild newspaper, Al-Akhbar reported that the BND obtained intelligence on multiple occasions about missiles Iran planned to send to Hezbollah.
According to the report, German intelligence did not merely track the missiles' location but in some cases gained direct access to the weapons. The report claims that, on orders from BND officials, some missiles were disabled before they could reach Hezbollah.
Al-Akhbar placed the information within the framework of expanding security and intelligence cooperation between Germany and Israel in recent years.
The paper noted that the BND's contacts with Hezbollah are not new. German media had previously reported that BND Deputy Chief Ole Diehl held talks with senior Hezbollah figures in Beirut in 2024.
The latest claims raise the question of whether Berlin's role in the Hezbollah file has moved beyond mediation and intelligence-gathering.
There has been no public confirmation from the German government or the BND of the claims that it disabled Iranian-made missiles.
