The decision strips roughly 4,000 Syrians covered by TPS of the temporary protection from deportation and the work authorization tied to the status.
A federal court had previously blocked the Trump administration's move. But on June 25, the US Supreme Court cleared the legal obstacles to the Department of Homeland Security's termination of TPS for Syria and Haiti.
TPS granted temporary permission to live and work in the United States to people who could not safely return to their home countries because of war, natural disaster or other extraordinary conditions.
Syrians who hold no other legal immigration status now face the risk of deportation.
