RastinewsIranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran has not yet received a definitive response from mediators on the conditions it set for the United States regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement carried by Iran's Foreign Ministry, Araghchi said Iran had noted US President Donald Trump's remarks on its conditions.

"We're hearing both encouraging and contradictory statements"

"We're hearing both encouraging and contradictory statements from the US president. We're waiting for a firm answer through the mediators, and we'll decide based on that answer," Araghchi said.

Araghchi said the conditions, set by Iran's Supreme National Security Council, had been passed to the other side through mediators. He stressed that meeting these conditions was required for Hormuz to reopen, and that Iran would not back down.

He added that Iran had not shut the door on diplomacy, but would not abandon its people's rights either.

Trump had rejected the conditions

According to Kurdistan24, the Iranian delegation, while in the US for the UN General Assembly, presented Washington with seven conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz through Qatari mediation.

Trump said the US had not accepted Iran's conditions.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian returned home after the General Assembly, while Araghchi was set to remain in the US until Wednesday.
