Iran: We Contacted US in New York Through Qatari Mediation, Conveyed Our Terms
Iran's Foreign Ministry confirmed that contact was made with the US side through Qatari mediation on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Tehran said it relayed its conditions to Washington: an end to the war on all fronts, the lifting of the naval blockade, and the release of its frozen assets.

RastinewsIranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said the Iranian delegation in New York for the UN General Assembly made contact with the US side through a Qatari mediator and conveyed Iran's conditions to the American side.
Speaking to the state news agency IRNA, Baghaei said the purpose of the contact was "to convey Iran's terms to the other side."
Iran's conditions
According to Baghaei, Iran's conditions include an end to the war on all fronts, a halt to what it called US aggressive actions, an end to the naval blockade and economic war, and the release of Iran's frozen assets.
State broadcaster IRIB had earlier reported that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff on the sidelines of the General Assembly, and that Tehran had agreed to the meeting at Washington's "insistence." IRIB said Iran used the meeting to convey its conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump: A very productive meeting
US President Donald Trump said his son-in-law Jared Kushner and Special Envoy Witkoff spent three hours discussing outstanding issues with Araghchi. "We had a very productive meeting," Trump said, adding that further talks were planned soon.
Qatar's role
Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani also met with Araghchi in New York on Tuesday. Qatar's Foreign Ministry said the talks covered regional developments, efforts to ease tensions and the groundwork for dialogue.
According to Reuters, a Qatari proposal for a joint security framework covering Iran and the Gulf states was also on the table. A regional source said Tehran was studying the proposal. Qatar has not yet made the proposal public.
Seven days for Hormuz
A senior Iranian official said Iran was prepared to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within a week if the US eased military and economic pressure.
Background
The US and Israel launched a war against Iran on February 28. The Strait of Hormuz has faced serious disruptions since the war began.
According to statements carried by IRNA, Iran used its contacts in New York to convey its conditions for ending the war directly to Washington.
