Yemen forces say they retook positions from Houthis in Taiz
Yemeni government forces spokesman Colonel Majid Nuzayli said the army recaptured several positions previously held by Houthi fighters following clashes south and west of Taiz.

Air strikes hit Houthi positions
Nuzayli said government forces carried out five air strikes on Houthi positions and bases on the Ahkum front, part of Hayfan district south of Taiz. He said Houthi trenches and fortifications on the same front were also struck three times from the air, adding that the operations inflicted heavy losses on the Houthis.
Nuzayli also said government forces shot down a Houthi drone over Mount Jardad, southwest of Taiz.
Fighting in Taiz has raged since 2015
Taiz has been one of the strategic areas where fighting between government forces and the Houthis has intensified since 2015. The Houthis' prolonged siege of the city has caused serious humanitarian problems for local residents.
Clashes between government forces and the Houthis have flared up again across different parts of Yemen since early September.
