Bayık criticizes Mazlum Abdi's advisory role, says nothing of Öcalan's part

Abdullah Öcalan and Kandil's directives were decisive in Mazlum Abdi's dealings with Damascus, yet Cemil Bayık placed full responsibility for the advisory decision on Abdi alone. Bayık's silence on Öcalan's role in the process prompted comments that the criticism was confined to Abdi while the İmralı-Rojava relationship went unaddressed.

RastinewsKCK Executive Council Co-Chair Cemil Bayık criticized Mazlum Abdi for accepting an advisory role under Syrian President Ahmed Şara.

In an interview with Rojava-based Nûçe TV, Bayık recalled that Abdi had previously said he would not take on any official position, but later agreed to become Şara's advisor.

"At first he said he wouldn't take any position. But later he accepted the advisory role. What's more, he became not an advisor responsible for the Kurds, but just any advisor, a bureaucrat. Criticism of this is right, and we criticize it too. He should not have accepted this," Bayık said.

Bayık said the matter could be viewed differently had Abdi taken on the advisory post specifically as a position responsible for the Kurds. "If he had become the Kurds' advisor, it wouldn't have been a problem," he said.

Bayık: YBŞ's integration into the Iraqi army is a positive step

Bayık also weighed in on the demands of the Yazidi community in Shengal and on the integration of the Shengal Resistance Units (YBŞ) into Iraqi security forces.

Noting that Yazidis want to take a step toward "democratic integration" with the Iraqi state, Bayık said, "It would be good if this happens. It looks like Iraq wants to resolve this issue."

Bayık also addressed the future of the camp in Mosul's Makhmour district.

He said that if the process succeeds, the Makhmour Camp issue would also be resolved, adding that Turkey and Iraq have decided camp residents should return to Turkey.

Bayık stressed that camp residents must be given guarantees before such a step can be taken.

Bayık: Iran's regime will collapse if it fails to resolve the Kurdish issue

Addressing the situation of Iran and Kurds in Rojhilat, Bayık argued that Iran's regime would "collapse" if it does not resolve the Kurdish issue.

Bayık said Kurds need to organize and prepare themselves for possible developments, adding that they should be ready both if democratic integration fails to materialize and if war breaks out.
