Ankara advances 'Terror-Free Turkey' bill

RastinewsMHP Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız announced that the bill drafted under the heading "Terror-Free Turkey" has been submitted to parliament with the signatures of 360 lawmakers. The measure is expected to pass in the General Assembly next week with more than 430 votes.
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Deputy Chairman Feti Yıldız shared key details of the long-awaited bill in a post on social media.
Yıldız said the drafting process involved close study of national and international high-court rulings, doctrinal debates and global precedents, and that the result was a model tailored specifically to Turkey.
Schedule and Expected Vote
The bill, described as the product of broad consensus, is set to reach the floor of the Grand National Assembly (TBMM) early next week. Yıldız said parliamentary group support meant the measure was expected to pass with more than 430 votes.
National Security Council Sign-Off Required
The bill's implementation clause sets binding conditions for it to take effect. According to details shared by Yıldız, the law's entry into force after passage depends on the following steps:
The PKK/KCK and affiliated groups fully ending their armed presence and handing over all weapons and ammunition under their control to security authorities.
Security agencies verifying this on the ground.
That verification being confirmed by a decision of the National Security Council (MGK) and then published in the Official Gazette.
Yıldız shared the bill with a message wishing it well, calling it set to be the most critical item on parliament's agenda next week.
