RastinewsTurkish President's Chief Advisor Mehmet Uçum described the break from the CHP as driven by "personal agendas and self-interest," arguing the newly formed party has no political substance. "The flood passes, the sand stays," he said.

Mehmet Uçum, Turkey's Presidential Chief Advisor and Deputy Head of the Presidential Council on Legal Policy, commented on the YENİ Parti, the new party formed under the leadership of Özgür Özel after his resignation from the CHP.

Posting on social media, Uçum wrote:

"The split between the CHP and the Yeni Parti is entirely insignificant for the needs of general politics on Turkey's agenda, because this rift has nothing to do with any difference in worldview. Those following current affairs are already treating it as political gossip. All the debate centers on the personal or group agendas of those who stayed and those who split off.

In truth, this amounts to nothing more than a 13th party breaking away from its parent, the CHP.

Just as past splits — aside from the Democrat Party and, thanks to Ecevit's influence, the DSP — produced no lasting meaning, this Yeni Parti cannot produce any either. Because the split did not arise from a difference in general policy, but purely from subjective agendas.

It is telling that those leading this breakaway are precisely the ones who defended the irregularities and corruption in the party congress processes and in the practices of local administrations, Istanbul above all.

Had the ruling on the invalidity of the general congress not come down, those who left would have stayed in the CHP. Once it became clear that resisting the law against the invalidity ruling was a futile stance that would lead nowhere, they opted instead for a separate party.

Where is the difference in political perspective, where is the ideological divide? This Yeni Parti cannot produce an original politics, because it was founded not on a political stance but on personal needs. That is why the Yeni Parti issue, treated in the country's politics as though it were some major event, amounts to nothing more than political gossip about individuals.

With this split, the CHP has in fact entered a cleansing process consistent with the purification it had set out for itself. In the end, the CHP remains the CHP. The flood passes, the sand stays.

What I have said here is nothing more than an observation. Anyone looking to read further meaning into it will be mistaken. They shouldn't bother."
