Çelik sends Terror-Free Turkey message: 'We'll pass the law before Parliament recesses'

RastinewsAK Party spokesperson Ömer Çelik commented on his party's MYK agenda. Delivering a Terror-Free Turkey message and addressing the framework law, Çelik said, "We will pass this law before Parliament goes into recess."

AK Party spokesperson Ömer Çelik commented on his party's MYK agenda.

Asked about the split within the CHP, Çelik said: "CHP's internal conflict is continuing on other grounds and through other formulas. Of course, political parties are indispensable for democracy. They are fundamental pillars of political life, and the whole system rests on them. But first, what is any given party's contribution to the legitimate sphere of politics? Second, what is its contribution to clean politics? Looked at from that angle, the old and new factions keep accusing each other."

"THIS IS CHP'S OWN ISSUE — THEY SHOULD FACE IT"

Noting that AK Party has no part in these matters, Çelik said: "Don't drag AK Party into this. Those making these allegations are CHP members, those they are accusing are CHP members, and the people who will become subjects of an indictment once the prosecutor's office gathers evidence regarding these actions are CHP members. This has nothing to do with us. This is your own problem. Face it."

"WE WILL CELEBRATE OUR 25TH ANNIVERSARY OVER TWO WEEKS"

Çelik continued: "We are in the midst of an intensive process for AK Party's 25th anniversary. There won't be just one event; you will see a series of surprises from August 1 to August 14 — we will not mark our 25th anniversary in a single day. Starting August 1, beginning with the unveiling of our logo, we will have many surprises leading up to that date. We will embrace this with intensive activity across Turkey. It will culminate in a speech by our President, to which we invite all our citizens.

WE ARE NOW AT THE FINE-TUNING STAGE OF TERROR-FREE TURKEY

We have reached a new stage regarding Terror-Free Turkey. This stage was about creating a legal ground for laying down arms. We are holding numerous meetings. It is a highly comprehensive process with political and legal dimensions. So far, the will behind it has proceeded as a state policy, carried out through a commission in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, work led by our Speaker of Parliament, and instructions from our President. Within this dynamic, nothing was done that would cast a shadow on the values of our state. What comes next matters. We are now at a stage requiring finer craftsmanship. The matter is only just beginning. Establishing a legal ground is important, but so is the political atmosphere being created. Contributions during this process are valuable, and so is constructive criticism. Destructive criticism, however, is extremely harmful.

We carried out powerful reforms in the most difficult times. The greatest appreciation, the greatest value, belongs to the individuals of our nation. Our country has been the target of provocations trying to sow discord among the people — Turks against Kurds, Alevis against Sunnis. It has faced numerous operations. In the face of these provocations, not a single reasonable individual looked askance at another. The real heroes are this sensible majority of our nation, its prudence. Now we see this same common sense across all segments, regardless of affiliation. Our names may differ, but all of our surname is Turkey.

Bahçeli's notable remarks: Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, Özgür Özel, the 'extra' controversy...

We must produce and embrace an approach that takes all this into account, moves beyond narrow ideological enclaves, and speaks in a constructive language. Looking at our immediate region, we see that Turkey stands out positively. There are ballot boxes, there is democracy, there is room to engage in politics. These are major values. Now, new dimensions have been added to these being major values.

We see that in high-capacity states that have attained these things, institutions have actually been hollowed out from within, and democracy has turned into propaganda activity. We must adopt a stronger approach to protecting these values. What Terror-Free Turkey needs most is approaches that will pump more oxygen into the system. This is not a time for propaganda. It is a time to reach every one of our citizens with the right language. It is time to put forward a political approach in which the only color is citizenship of the Republic of Turkey. Avoiding extremes must be the most basic principle. Everyone must pay attention to avoiding these extremes. We said that, whatever happens, we would keep this matter on the main road and prevent it from veering onto side roads. All the parties that took part in the parliamentary commission, and those who used positive language, made a great contribution to this. The point we have now reached is more critical. The lever has now been raised to put this into place, and it needs to be set on its course."
