Mossad says it foiled Iranian assassination plot

RastinewsIsrael's foreign intelligence agency Mossad says it thwarted an Iranian attempt to infiltrate agents into the country to target senior Israeli officials.
According to a Mossad statement, Iran's Ministry of Intelligence tried to infiltrate agents into Israel and recruit operatives from within the country to gather information on senior Israeli officials and carry out assassinations. The statement said three people were recruited for the assassination plot from Iran and France, and that a man in France, using the code name "Philip," traveled to Iran several times to meet with Iranian intelligence officers and collect payment.
"Philip" was tasked with setting up a cell of foreign nationals who could enter Israel, and was later deported from France, the statement said. The other two recruits remained in Iran. Mossad said it worked with Israel's domestic security service Shin Bet and foreign intelligence agencies to uncover the network.
