Two More Kurdish Youths Killed at Iran Border

RastinewsIranian border guards are keeping up their lethal campaign in Rojhilat. Direct targeting along the Khoy and Paveh frontiers has killed two more Kurdish youths, bringing the death toll to six over the past three weeks.
Wounded, Then Executed
According to the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRN), the first killing took place on July 22 in the mountainous border area of Kotur, in Khoy district.
Border guards shot and wounded a young kolber (a cross-border porter). Forces then closed in and fired two more rounds at close range, finishing the killing.
Shot in the Back: Only a Plastic Jerrycan Beside Him
A second killing was recorded the next day, July 23, near the border of Dezavar village in Paveh district, Kermanshah province.
Forces opened fire near a border outpost with no warning given. The young man's family said only a few empty plastic jerrycans were found beside him, and that he had been shot in the back. He was buried in Marivan after formalities at the Paveh Forensic Medicine Office.
Six Dead in Three Weeks
KHRN's figures lay bare the scale of the killings in the region. Over the past three weeks, four kolbers and two civilians — including an 11-year-old child — have been killed along the Nowsud, Marivan, Sarvabad and Khoy border lines by direct, disproportionate use of force.
