Germany resumes direct flights to Syria after 15 years
Scheduled flights between Germany and Syria have resumed after nearly 14 years, marking the first tangible step under a civil aviation agreement signed by the two countries.

RastinewsScheduled flights between Germany and Syria have resumed after nearly 14 years. The new Düsseldorf-Damascus route marks the first tangible step under a civil aviation agreement signed by the two countries, with plans to expand the network to include Aleppo at a later stage.
The aircraft took off from Düsseldorf and landed at Damascus International Airport. Markus Hicken, chargé d'affaires at the German Embassy in Damascus, said the flight was one of the first concrete results of the civil aviation agreement signed between Syria and Germany.
Hicken said flights to Aleppo were also planned for the future, calling it part of the broader cooperation between the two countries.
He noted that Germany had hosted more than a million Syrian refugees during the difficult years under the Assad regime, and said Germany would continue supporting Syria's recovery process.
